Event Name: South-East Asia Regional Meeting on Preventing and Countering the Spread of Violent Extremism on Gaming, Gaming-Adjacent, and Other Online Platforms Targeting Youth in South-East Asia

The GEMS Project contributed (remotely) to this EU-funded UNODC regional workshop, convened as part of the programme “Supporting Asian Countries’ Resilience to Violent Extremism in the Digital Space.”
GEMS representatives presented the Horizon Europe-funded project, its main objectives and findings on extremist exploitation of gaming and gaming-adjacent platforms, and ran a recorded practical usage scenario of the Watchtower tool.
The workshop reviewed regional trends, best practices, challenges, and lessons learnt in preventing violent extremism in the digital space targeting youth, with welcome remarks delivered by Frank Geens, EU Counter-Terrorism Expert to Indonesia and ASEAN.
