Organisers: ESIWA+ (Enhancing the EU’s Security Cooperation in and with Asia and the Indo-Pacific), the EU Delegation to Singapore, and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) EEAS


The two-day symposium convened policymakers, security practitioners and academics from Belgium, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Europol to exchange experiences and develop joint strategies for preventing youth radicalisation both online and offline.

Opening remarks were delivered by EU Ambassador to Singapore Iwona Piórko, who underscored the need for preventative measures that keep “the best interests of the young person at heart,” and by Singapore’s Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development Assoc. Prof. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, who called for continued international collaboration against extremist threats.

Darren Martin, representing the Horizon Europe GEMS project and An Garda Síochána, took part in the programme as a presenter, sharing insights from the GEMS project.
