Rachel Kowert, a member of our project team, is co-editing a special issue titled "Extremism and Games." This issue focuses on the growing concern of the "gamification of extremism," which involves using games to spread extremist propaganda, radicalize individuals, recruit followers, and mobilize extremist activities. The special issue aims to collate the latest empirical research in this emerging field, addressing various topics such as the use of game adjacent platforms for organization, extremist propaganda in games, and the role of games as cultural assets of influence. The issue is open for submissions and seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of extremism in gaming contexts. For more detailed information, you can visit the special issue's webpage on Frontiers in Extremism and Games.
